Academic City University, Accra

From 9 to 13 June 2025, Professor John Schulz and Emily Bastable delivered our programme 21st Century Skills: Essential Skills for the Modern Workforce to 156 faculty members and students at Academic City University in Accra.

Faculty and staff spent two full days on blended learning and AI literacy and could also book one-to-one sessions with the facilitators. Students took two-hour workshops on using video and podcasts for learning, and on how to show employers their communication, critical thinking, creativity and collaboration skills.

In participant feedback, 98% of faculty and students said they were satisfied with the programme. 95% of students said they now felt more confident about finding employment.

The sessions were very insightful, and the facilitators kept us engaged throughout. … Some faculty who initially thought AI was a no-go area are now actively exploring how to integrate it.

Dr Sena Agbodjah, Vice President of Academic Affairs, Academic City University

University of Cape Coast

From 23 to 27 June 2025, Dr Fethiye Turkman-Ceylan taught Applied Machine Learning for Economics and Business at the University of Cape Coast. The programme prepared faculty and graduate students with intermediate machine learning experience to teach undergraduate machine learning courses in the Economics and Business departments.

Over the week, participants worked through machine learning fundamentals, regression, decision trees and hierarchical clustering, and each presented a capstone project applying what they had learnt to a real-world problem. In participant feedback, 97% said they were satisfied with the programme and all said they would recommend it to others. Dr Turkman-Ceylan has agreed to run follow-up sessions online.
