Africa Healing Foundation, Zimbabwe

Africa Healing Foundation (AHF) is an international health and community development non-profit working to reduce health inequalities and poverty in marginalised communities in Africa and UK. They focus on strengthening healthcare, developing capacity and skills, environmental conservation, youth empowerment, food security and agricultural diversification. We look forward to launching our first programme in Zimbabwe with AHF to teach employment skills and entrepreneurship to 16-25 year olds. 

African Rural University, Uganda

Founded in 2009 by the Uganda Rural Development and Training Programme (URDT), the African Rural University (ARU) serves to empower young women of rural communities through education and skill development, so that they can serve as leaders and innovators in their communities. Prowibo first partnered with ARU in 2017, which launched our first all-female program. We have since returned to ARU three times. Our most recent visit was in 2022 when we held courses for women and faculty to develop thier entrepreneurship, leadership and self-defence skills.

Avadh Girls’ Degree College, India

Avadh Girls’ Degree College is an all-female higher education institution in Lucknow, India. It was founded by the Loreto Convent in 1958; however, it was placed under the jurisdiction of the Avadh Educational Society in 1975. The college contains an impressive academic catalogue complete with a nationally recognized Faculty of Commerce. Moreover, the college not only pushes its students to strive for academic excellence, it allows them to transform into active members in the community. The college requires that each student become a member of three compulsory school clubs: social service, sports, and entertainment. Prowibo launched its first program at Avadh Girls’ Degree College in August 2019.

Back to Basics, Kenya

Back to Basics (BTB) is a women led non-profit organisation in Kenya that works to empower and support local communities, especially women and youth, by engaging them in sustainable development. Prowibo ran two programmes with BTB in 2022 with an online programme in January focusing on Building Resilience and Mental Wellbeing and then an in-person programme in March with classes on tackling hate speech, cyber safety, personal safety, and how to promote yourself online.

Ecolotrip, Togo

Ecolotrip Logo

Ecolotrip is one of the largest and active networks of young climate activists and entrepreneurs in the Francophonie. It facilitates the participation of young French-speaking people, particularly young people from the South, in climate policies at the local, national and international level.

Fourah Bay College, Sierra Leone

Fourah Bay College (FBC) was founded in 1827 in Freetown, Sierra Leone. This historic institution was the first modern higher education institution in sub-Saharan following the decline of Timbuktu. Sometimes referred to as the Athens of West Africa, FBC is an affiliated body of the University of Sierra Leone and offers degrees in the departments of the Arts, Engineering and Architecture, Pure and Applied Sciences, Social Sciences and Law. Prowibo launched its first pilot program at Fourah Bay College in 2016 and we have since returned three times.

Institute for Integrated Development Studies (IIDS), Nepal

The Institute for Integrated Development Studies (IIDS) is an independent, non-partisan, and not-for-profit think-tank headquartered in Kathmandu, Nepal. We ran our first programme in Nepal with IIDS in 2022 with our two week programme forming an integral part of IIDS’ postgraduate employability programme that prepares its graduates for their future careers in national politics and development.

Institute of Public Administration and Management, Sierra Leone

The Institution of Public Administration and Management (IPAM) was founded in 1980 in Freetown, Sierra Leone and, like FBC, it is affiliated with the University of Sierra Leone. IPAM provides students with a well-rounded list of degrees, offering courses in banking and finance, accounting, information systems and technology, business administration, entrepreneurship and governance and leadership. In July of 2018, Prowibo launched its first program at IPAM, and we returned most recently in 2019 running classes on criminology, decision-making, finance, and political communications.

KHM Girls P.G. College, India

Karamat Girls College was established as a degree college in 1946 after 40 years of institutional evolution beginning as a school consisting of six girls in 1912, transforming to a high school in 1924, and upgrading Inter College in 1936 before reaching its current status. The core mission of the college is to provide young women with opportunities for skill development and empower them to confront issues, such as social sensitivity and environmental consciousness. Prowibo launched its first program in India at the Karamat Girls College in 2018 with the help of our implementation partner, the Alhambra-U.S. Chamber. We returned most recently in December 2021 running a programme focusing on women’s empowerment. 

University of Kigali, Rwanda

University of Kigali is one of the leading private higher institutions of learning in Rwanda. It is a fully Accredited Chartered University by the Government of the Republic of Rwanda. It started its operations in October, 2013 upon receiving a definitive license to operate as a private University. University of Kigali offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and professional courses in fields such as business, technology, law, and economics. It emphasizes practical skills and ethical education, aiming to produce competent and socially responsible graduates.

University of Lagos, Nigeria

University of Lagos was founded in 1962 and is one of the top universities in Nigeria. Our partnership with UNILAG aims at promoting academic exchanges in all fields and sharing pedagogical approaches from different parts of the world. We launched our first programme with UNILAG in March 2022 with classes in economics, financial literacy, innovative design thinking and storytelling.

LeadMinds Africa, Uganda

LeadMinds Africa is a non-profit dedicated to building a dynamic, values-driven community of leaders and entrepreneurs who are passionate about using their skills to drive positive change within their communities and countries.
 
They exist to disrupt the status quo, equip people to unleash their potential, and prepare them to solve complex challenges in their communities.

Likusasa Letfu, Eswatini

Nhloso Likusasa Le’lichakazile (Likusasa Letfu) is a non-profit founded in 2014 to help local Eswatini youth to develop life skills and further their education through funding academic and vocational training. We look forward to launching our first programme in Eswatini with Likusasa Letfu later this year. 

Lycée Malick SY de Thiès, Senegal

Lycée Malick SY de Thiès is one of the first secondary schools in Senegal, it was created in 1965. Lycée Malick SY offers students the opportunity to complete their French Baccalaureate alongside learning foreign languages such as Spanish, Portuguese, German and Arabic. Additionally, students benefit from a diverse physical education program with three football playgrounds, two basketball fields, two handball fields, a Senegalese Wrestling arena and a gymnasium on campus. Moreover, Lycée Malick SY allows other schools to utilise their physical education facilities due to the lack of space and facilities within those schools. Prowibo launched its first programme taught in french at Lycée Malick SY de Thiès in July 2019.

Maejo University, Thailand

Maejo University, located in Chiang Mai Province, Thailand, holds the distinction of being the country’s oldest agricultural institution. Established in 1934 as the Northern Agricultural Teachers Training School, it underwent several restructurings and renamings before gaining full-fledged public university status in 1996.

Maejo University’s main campus in Chiang Mai is comprised of various faculties including Business, Economics, Liberal Arts, Tourism Development, Information Technology, Fisheries Technology and Aquatic Resources, Animal Sciences and Technology, Renewable Energy, Administrative, Landscape and Environmental Design, Agricultural Production, Science, and Engineering and Agro-Industry. 

Movement for Youth and Children Rights, Sierra Leone

Movement for Youth & Children’s Rights Organization (MYCRO) was established after the brutal civil conflict in Sierra Leone to help redress the years of war into peace and development through youth advocacy, peace education, nonviolent communication and youth entrepreneurial programs. MYCRO specializes in youth advocacy, peace education, nonviolent communication, feeding programs, medical, youth entrepreneurial, and life skills development programs in Africa.

University of Nairobi, Kenya

The University of Nairobi, established by the Kenyan Parliament’s Act Cap 210, is a pioneering institution for university education in Kenya and the surrounding region. Historically, it was the sole higher education institution in Kenya, adeptly meeting the high-level technical needs of the nation and broader Africa through a diverse array of academic programmes in sciences, humanities, and arts, now totalling around two hundred offerings. The University of Nairobi has expanded access to education through its module II programmes, which allow paying students who meet the admission criteria but could not enrol in regular programmes due to governmental funding limits. Strategically located across seven campuses in and around the capital city, University of Nairobi facilitates robust academic engagement. It also runs classes at Extra Mural Centres in provincial capitals, catering to regular, evening, and weekend students. The university takes pride in its notable achievements in teaching, research, and consultancy, continually aiming to enhance its status as a centre of academic and professional excellence.

Prince of Wales School, Sierra Leone

Prince of Wales School is an all-boys secondary school in Freetown, Sierra Leone. Established in 1925, today it has a focus on scientific education and modern language studies. The school hosted one of Prowibo’s pilot schemes in 2016 and we look forward to returning in October 2023.

RCE Kuching, Malaysia

Regional Centre of Expertise Kuching (RCE Kuching) was established in 2018 and aims to spread awareness about the need to adopt sustainable practices in the rural and urban communities of Kuching. Its focus is protecting the main water source for the area: the Sarawak River Kiri. In 2022, Prowibo worked with RCE Kuching to deliver workshops on  ‘Leadership and the SDGs’ to students and ‘Practical Strategies for ESD’ (Education for Sustainable Development) for staff at UCSI University (Malaysia)

Srinakharinwirot University, Thailand

Srinakharinwirot University was founded in 1974. The philosophy of the university is to utilize higher education to promote growth in five key areas: faith (self-awareness), sacred precepts (ethics), attentiveness (continuous learning), abandonment (generosity), and wisdom. Prowibo first formed its partnership with SWU in 2017. We partnered with SWU to host our first academic conference in Asia at their campus in Bangkok in 2019. Our latest programme at SWU on ‘21st Century Skills & the Sustainable Development Goals’ in 2022 took place online due to continuing Covid-19 travel restrictions. 

UCSI, Malaysia

Founded in 1986, UCSI University is a leading institution of higher learning with campuses in Kuala Lumpur, Springhill (Port Dickson) and Kuching, Malaysia. In 2022 Prowibo delivered workshops at USCI on ‘Leadership and the SDGs’ to its students and ‘Practical Strategies for ESD’ (Education for Sustainable Development) for its staff. Prowibo also took part in UCSI’s workshop on “The Art of Speaking Science” with all the panellists coming from Prowibo.

ADRA Europe

The Adventist Development & Relief Agency (ADRA) is the global humanitarian arm of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. It operates the world’s largest integrated healthcare and education network providing disaster relief and development assistance worldwide to anyone in need. Prowibo’s Chief Programmes Officer, Rachel Warnick, led a breakout session at the ADRA conference: Education Incubator to discuss how to influence European decision makers to invest in education in an emergency in times of crisis.

BMW Foundation Herbert Quandt

BMW Foundation Herbert Quandt was founded in 1970 to honour the entrepreneur’s achievements in rescuing the vehicle manufacturer from bankruptcy in the 1950s. Today, the foundation aims to promote responsible leadership and inspire leaders to work towards the achievement of the UN’s SDG through its leadership programmes and global Responsible Leaders Network. In 2021 as part of the Foundation’s Equity, Diversity and Belonging Week, Prowibo hosted a workshop on “Teaching Insectionaity: a guide to understanding yourself” which sought to explore the concepts of identity and bias through the lens of inclusion. 

Inspiring More Sustainability, Luxembourg

IMS Luxembourg (Inspiring More Sustainability) is an independent, apolitical, non-profit organization that has been Luxembourg’s leading network for sustainable development for 17 years. Its mission is to inspire responsible strategies and practices among national economic actors by supporting its members through collaborative projects and promoting dialogue with stakeholders across private, public, and associative sectors.

IMS projects tackle these different challenges: People: diversity & inclusion, health & wellbeing, community engagement, youth, business & human rights, Planet: ecomobility, decarbonation, natural resources & biodiversity, waste management, Prosperity: responsible production & consumption, social and solidarity economy, communication & reporting, leadership & governance.

Learning Planet Alliance

Learning Planet Alliance is an initiative created by the Learning Planet Institute and UNESCO to unite all change actors to develop new ways of learning, teaching, and researching by sharing our data, practices, knowledge and experience. In January 2023, Prowibo led a workshop encouraging the discussion about taboo subjects in education. With panellists from organisations based in Eswatini, Kenya, and Zimbabwe, we explored the innovative solutions devised by African grassroots organisations to remove the stigma from discussing taboo topics.

LSE Ideas, UK

As a top university-affiliated think-tank in Europe, LSE Ideas offers an extensive base of resources for Prowibo. LSE Ideas helps us to expand the reach of Prowibo’s own ThinkTank, by assisting with our conferences and by connecting us with research associates. LSE Ideas also grant us free workspace & conference rooms plus faculty support, and full journal access.

Richmond American University London, UK

Richmond the American International University in London is our first academic partner in the UK. Richmond collaborates with Prowibo on joint research and has connected us with qualified Richmond students to join our team as interns with many professors from Richmond also teaching our courses.

UJ Press, South Africa

UJ Press was established in October 2020 under the auspices of the University of Johannesburg Library. The press started publishing Open Access journals on the Open Journal System (OJS). In October 2021, the Press set up an Open Monograph Press (OMP) and started publishing books in print, electronic and audio formats. UJ Press publish titles in all disciplines related to Pan-African Decolonisation and issues surrounding 4IR and the UN SDGs. The Press also publish co-publications with international publishers, translated titles, digital scholarship including video and audio scholarly outputs and Open Access textbooks. Lastly, it publishes data sets, 3D assets and other digital formats with their publications. UJ Press is the home of our Think Tank’s journal Higher Education Compass.

United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO)

Founded in 1945 the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) aims to build peace through international cooperation. It is the only United Nations agency with a mandate to cover all aspects of education. Our two year study on Equitable Access to Online Education was published by UNESCO at the World Higher Education Conference in 2022.

In November 2022, our Chief Programmes Officer, Rachel Warick, spoke at the Sustainable on the Go Conference 2022. SOTG 2022 engaged partners and stakeholders from around the world in creative dialogue to further enrich the discussion on sustainable and inclusive internationalization in higher education. Rachel was invited by the UNESCO Chair in Reorienting Education towards Sustainability to join the panel on Connecting the Local and Global Classrooms.

UNESCO Chair at York University, Toronto, Canada

The UNESCO Chair in Reorienting Education towards Sustainability at York University is one of 850 UNESCO Chairs that provide support for policy-making and serve UNESCO in achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) on Quality Education. The Chair was the first focusing on Education for Sustainable Development and is today one of the most established within the UNESCO Chairs programme. In June 2022, the Chair’s Executive Coordinator Katrin Kohl, took part in a Prowibo workshop on ‘Science and Sustainable Development’ with Prowibo participating in the Chair’s Sustainable on the Go Conference in November of the same year.

The United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) serves as the specialised training division within the United Nations system. It is committed to delivering training and capacity-building initiatives aimed particularly at supporting developing nations, with a focused emphasis on the needs of Least Developed Countries (LDCs), Small Island Developing States (SIDS), and other vulnerable groups, including communities affected by conflict situations. Our partnership furthers our joint mission of improving access to quality education, it includes access to online teaching programmes and the dissemination of research outputs via Professors Without Border’s academic journal: Higher Education Compass.
