Despite Luxembourg’s €5,000 billion in assets under management, its youth displays one of the lowest rates of financial literacy in the OECD. Supported by the Œuvre Nationale de Secours Grande-Duchesse Charlotte, Professeurs Sans Frontières/Professors Without Borders a.s.b.l. launched the first Financial Literacy Bootcamp, opening the doors of major financial institutions to a new generation of young investors.
This programme is led by a complementary duo: Caroline Varin, CEO of Professors Without Borders, who pursues a mission of global equity and universal access to quality education, alongside Lise Mouschang, a young Luxembourgish graduate of the LSE and the University of Oxford, for whom financial education is a powerful social lever for the Grand Duchy’s youth.
According to the OECD, Luxembourg’s population aged 18-29 lacks financial education, leaving the country’s world-class financial expertise out of reach of its own youth. To respond to this urgency, the country’s first Financial Literacy Bootcamp was created. Between 17 April and 2 May 2026, 20 participants aged 16-22 were welcomed by White & Case, CaixaBank Asset Management and Nordic Capital to learn the fundamentals of personal finance and investment from seasoned professionals. They shared not only their expertise, but also their personal experiences with money management.
The bootcamp transcends the classroom. After the theoretical part of the programme, participants began two months of individual mentorship with professionals from partner institutions. Led by their mentors, students manage their own virtual portfolio of €100,000. At the end of this period, an independent jury convened at Deloitte will identify the most rigorous investment strategy.
By granting access to the financial sector to Luxembourgish youth, Professors Without Borders aims to demystify a sector often considered inaccessible, in particular for women. With 56% female participants, the NGO directly tackles gendered stereotypes linked to the world of investing.
ECG-student Eléonore Pereira (17) says: “My goal is to be independent, to have my own company as my main source of income but to also be an investor, thus leveraging a second source of income.”
For the NGO Professeurs Sans Frontières/Professors Without Borders, this Bootcamp is much more than an educational program: it is an intergenerational networking space. The mentors, in turn, seize the opportunity to engage concretely with Luxembourgish society while discovering the talents who will constitute the next generation of professionals and entrepreneurs.
Professeurs Sans Frontières/Professors Without Borders a.s.b.l. is an NGO registered in Luxembourg and the UK, dedicated to improving equitable access to quality education across the globe, strengthening inspiring learning experiences and encouraging students to become leaders in their communities.
