Financial Literacy Bootcamp

Your first paycheck shouldn’t be your first lesson in finance

A hands-on, in-person financial education programme for young people in Luxembourg,
combining practical workshops and a three-month portfolio management challenge.
In-person sessions: April–May · Portfolio challenge: April–July · Application deadline: 31 January 2026

About the Programme

The Financial Literacy Bootcamp is an in-person learning programme designed to help young people in Luxembourg develop practical financial skills before entering the world of work, higher education, or independent living.

Delivered by Professors Without Borders / Professeurs Sans Frontières A.S.B.L., the programme focuses on understanding money, making thoughtful choices, and building long-term confidence.

Participants are encouraged to develop responsible financial habits and informed decision-making skills that will support them throughout adult life.

This initiative is proudly supported by CaixaBank, White & Case, and Nordic Capital. Our in-person sessions are hosted at their offices in Luxembourg.

The programme is supported by corporate volunteers from these companies, who mentor participants during the bootcamp sessions and the portfolio management challenge.

Why Join the Bootcamp?

Many young people leave school without the tools needed to manage money responsibly. Budgeting, understanding credit, planning major expenses, and making informed financial decisions are rarely covered in formal education.

This bootcamp was created to:

  • Provide practical financial education grounded in real-life situations

  • Help young people build confidence and responsibility around money

  • Offer learning outside the classroom, in professional environments

  • Support a smoother transition into adult financial independence

Why We Created This Programme

Despite being one of Europe’s wealthiest countries, many young people in Luxembourg still lack access to practical financial education. Financial skills are rarely taught in schools, leaving students underprepared for managing money, employment transitions, and everyday financial decisions.

The Financial Literacy Bootcamp was created to:

  • Offer accessible, practical financial education

  • Support young people at a key transition into adult life

  • Connect participants with professional networks in Luxembourg

  • Encourage responsible and informed financial decision-making from an early age

Programme Structure

The Financial Literacy Bootcamp is structured as a two-part programme, combining learning and application.

Phase 1 – In-Person Bootcamp Sessions

Three interactive sessions held on Saturdays in April–May, focused on building core financial knowledge and responsible decision-making.

Participants will explore:

  • Personal finance, budgeting, and saving

  • Smart spending and credit awareness

  • Introduction to investing and long-term financial thinking

Phase 2 – Portfolio Management Challenge

Following the bootcamp sessions, participants take part in a three-month virtual portfolio management challenge, running until July.

Participants will:

  • Manage a €50,000 virtual investment portfolio

  • Use real market data in a risk-free environment

  • Apply concepts learned during the bootcamp

  • Reflect on strategy, risk, and decision-making

  • Receive guidance from professional mentors

The programme concludes with portfolio presentations and a cash prize awarded to the strongest overall portfolio strategy.
