Le Women in Higher Education Fellowship

FAQ

Who is this Fellowship for?

This Fellowship is for women working in higher education from PhD level, research, teaching, or administration. The Fellowship is particularly geared towards early and mid-career higher education professionals.

Women working in academia fill in a form to apply, sharing information about their local setting, goals, and contributions to the Fellowship. Applicants should have experience in either research, teaching, or academic administration and hold at least a Master’s degree. We are looking for a diverse cohort with representation across sectors. Participants interested in mentoring future cohorts will be prioritised. The Fellowship selection committee will shortlist twenty participants and contact applicants with their decision.

The Fellowship will take place over ten months with monthly online meetings that include guest speakers. Fellows will be encouraged to set the agenda for and participate in mentoring cohorts in the second year to deepen mentoring and networking opportunities.

Professors Without Borders believes that women should not be held back from participating in our Fellowship because of funding constraints. Therefore, there are no costs for Fellows.

All contributions, sponsorships and donations towards our programmes, however, are greatly appreciated.

Meetings are held monthly online; a specific schedule for the year will be shared once the Fellowship begins.

Each meeting will be moderated by a guest specialist in the chosen theme. There will be a short presentation, followed by questions and an opportunity for idea exchange and discussions.

The Women in Higher Education Fellowship is hosted by Dr. Julia Sargent, Chair, and Dr. Ilka Kostka, Deputy Chair of the Fellowship Committee. It is supported by the Think Tank Professors Without Borders (Prowibo) Dr Caroline Varin, CEO of Prowibo. The Fellowship Committee is responsible for helping to organize monthly guest speakers, recruit Fellowship members, and provide on-going support throughout the Fellowship.

Meetings will be led by a higher education professional and moderated by either the Chair, Deputy Chair, and/or a nominated committee member.

Access to a network of academics from around the world. Opportunities for mentorship and mentoring. Joining a supportive community of women with shared experiences.
